• VOLUNTEER / VLSP

Community Volunteers

CCLS offers a wide variety matters in which members of the communities can assist us with in the delivery of effective legal services to our clients in the counties that we serve.  In the past, volunteers have included undergraduates, paralegals, and other members of the community. Our volunteers work during normal business hours, 8:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday.

The VLSP seeks dedicated, enthusiastic, and hardworking individuals who want to assist our clients with their many urgent needs.

If you are interested in volunteering with CCLS, please submit a letter of interest and resume to the VLSP Supervising Attorney, Ugochi Anaebere, at ugochi@centralcallegal.org or call 559-570-1238.  Please check your resumes and all correspondence carefully for grammar, spelling, word usage, and syntax before submitting your materials.

    • Paralegals

Paralegals and paralegal students may volunteer with anyone of the legal teams at CCLS and can work on a wide variety of matters, including, but not limited to preparation of court documents and correspondence, interviewing clients, responding to discovery requests, and other duties as assigned.  Paralegals and paralegal students may also volunteer with CCLS’S Self-Help I-CAN and WE Connect clinics.

If you are interested in volunteering with CCLS’S Self-Help Clinics, please contact our Special Projects Coordinator, Manuel Romero, at mromero@centralcallegal.org or call 559-570-1258.

    • High School Students

Occasionally, CCLS uses high school student volunteers to assist in administrative and clerical positions.  Students must be able to travel to CCLS offices and must demonstrate strong academic ability.  CCLS policies prohibit anyone under the age of 18 from interacting with clients.  Students interested in volunteering with CCLS must apply personally; CCLS will not accept applications from parents or guardians.

    • Other Community Volunteers

Volunteers are matched individually with openings in our program.   Community volunteers may also volunteer with CCLS’S Self-Help I-CAN and WE Connect Clinics.

If you are interested in volunteering with CCLS’S Self-Help Clinics, please contact our Special Projects Coordinator, Manuel Romero, at mromero@centralcallegal.org or call 559-570-1258.
